Did you know?

Olathe is the Shawnee Indian word for "beautiful." 1

Heritage Parkis a 1,160-acre park located at 159th and Pflumm Road. It was dedicated on July 4, 1981. Its name was chosen to honor the rich early heritage of the Black Bob band of Shawnee Indians and the pioneer settlers of the area.2

John Barton, namesake of Barton street, was the treasurer of Johnson County in 1857 and founder of Olathe.3
